Romanian Spring Traditions: Painting and Classical Music on March 27, 2022

HORA is happy to present the Romanian Spring Traditions exhibit between March 6th and April 15, 2022. This event will be located in the North Gallery of the Landmark Center, first floor. Visitors will get immersed in various art activities while learning about Romanian culture and traditions. All activities are free and open to the public.

Featured activities and artists for this event are:

  • Raluca Boac performance: 1-1:30 pm, room 317. Come listen to beloved Romanian classical music and find out what it takes to learn to play the piano.
  • Gina Johnson painting 2-3 pm, room 317. You can learn how to paint a snowdrop, the traditional flower of spring in Romania. Materials will be supplied, and you can take your painting home. This event is open to everyone, seats are on a first come first served basis.

This event is made possible with help from MN Landmarks and voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Visitors will get immersed in various art activities while learning about Romanian culture and traditions. All activities are free and open to the public.

Featured activities and artists for this event are:

Darrel Trulson pottery, 2-3 pm, room 317, Join us for an introduction to pottery class. Materials will be supplied and no experience is needed. This event is open to everyone, seats are on a first come first served basis.

Romanian Spring Traditions: Stitches of Love and Folk Music on April 10

HORA is happy to present the Romanian Spring Traditions exhibit between March 6th and April 15, 2022. This event will be located in the North Gallery of the Landmark Center, first floor. Visitors will get immersed in various art activities while learning about Romanian culture and traditions. All activities are free and open to the public.

Featured activities and artists for this event on April 10 are:

  • Romell Alaman, 1-1:30 pm, room 317. Come experience unique Romanian folk music, usually sung with friends around the campfire but not only.
  • Stitches of Love, 1:30-3, room 317. Come and witness the resilience of Romanian community over the last two years in recreating beautiful patterns from their grandmothers’ traditional hand-sewn blouses. Learn about intricate cross-stitch patterns, fabrics and threads from the past.

Reopening of the HORA Romanian American Cultural Center and Celebration of the Day of the Romanian Blouse (Ziua lei)

Beautiful display of Romanian tradition and craft! Thank you to all who participated in this special event to celebrate the Day of the Romanian Blouse and reopening of HORA Romanian American Cultural Center in Minnesota.

Va asteptam!

The Great Union Celebration (“Marea Unire”)

The great unification of Dec 1st, 1918, brought together all Romanian territories under one state. We were proud to celebrate together the Romania’s Centennial in Minnesota. It was a truly once in a lifetime community celebration. Full program details including a list of the performers can be found here.

The event took place at St. Katherine Ukrainian Church Hall. It was organized in collaboration with: St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church, St. Stefan’s Romanian Orthodox Church, Romanian Genealogy Society (RGS).

Fest! Merry Mansion

HORA participated as a guest nation in an extraordinary exhibit of Christmas traditions organised by the American Swedish Institute in Minnesota. The Romanian exhibit displayed beautiful, authentic costumes and artifacts related to winter traditions around Christmas.

This was an amazing event with over 30.000 visitors.
