HORA was happy to display the Romanian Spring Traditions exhibit between March 6th and April 15, 2022. This event was located in the North Gallery of the Landmark Center, first floor. Visitors got immersed in various art activities while learning about Romanian culture and traditions. All activities were free and open to the public.
Participants could witness the Romanian community resilience in recreating patterns from their grandmothers’ blouses during the pandemic years. They could learn about the intricate cross-stitch patterns, fabrics and threads from a century ago and be creative with thread.
Participants could experience unique Romanian folk music, usually sung around the campfire during warm summer nights, with artist Romell Alaman.
This event was made possible with help from MN Landmarks and voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
