Children’s Day and the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse

June 7 from 5-7 pm

Rosland Park, Edina, West 66th street, Edina, MN 55435

Our community came together for a vibrant celebration honoring two beloved traditions: Children’s Day and the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse (Ziua Universala a Iei). The event brought families, culture enthusiasts, and community members together for an afternoon filled with joy, heritage, and lively performances.

A highlight of the celebration was the special appearance by the Călușarii dance ensemble, led by John Omorean. Known for their energetic choreography, rhythmic footwork, and centuries‑old ritual roots, the Călușarii performed one of Romania’s most iconic folk dances, offering an unforgettable display of skill, tradition, and cultural pride.

Guests enjoyed:

  • Traditional Romanian music and dance
  • A showcase of the Romanian blouse (ie), celebrated as a symbol of identity and artistry
  • Family‑friendly activities for Children’s Day
  • Opportunities to learn about Romanian customs
  • Children’s book release with author Diana Vashchevici. You can purchase the books in English, French and Romanian here:

The event offered a joyful and meaningful way to celebrate heritage, connect with others, and experience the beauty of Romanian culture.
