Every Sunday in February 2025, 1-3 pm

Among other celebrations, February was the month of Lupercalia, the Roman holiday of purification, from which St. Valentine’s Day originated. Visitors joined us every Sunday from 1-3 pm in February to learn about Dragobete, the Romanian version of Valentine’s Day. Celebrated on February 24, Dragobete is a traditional Romanian holiday dedicated to love and the arrival of spring. It is known as “the day when the birds are betrothed,” symbolizing the time when birds begin to mate and build their nests. According to legend, Dragobete was the son of Baba Dochia. The day is filled with customs such as picking spring flowers, exchanging kisses, and crafting love potions, all aimed at celebrating love and ensuring good health for the rest of the year
