Celebrating Community at the International Festival of Minnesota
We were excited to join dozens of other cultural groups at the International Festival of Minnesota (IFest‑MN)—a vibrant gathering that brought together more than 70 nations and ethnic communities from across the state. Formerly known as the Festival of Nations, IFest‑MN continued the beloved tradition of sharing food, music, dance, art, and cultural demonstrations in a joyful, inclusive setting.
With around 25,000 attendees, including 7,000 youth, the festival offered a hands‑on, heart‑opening experience that celebrated the richness of Minnesota’s cultural landscape. Our community proudly contributed to this mosaic through traditional Romanian music, dance, and heritage displays, standing alongside many other ethnic groups who brought their own stories, rhythms, and traditions.
Romanians had participated in the Festival of Nations in Minnesota since its inception in 1932. Participating in IFest‑MN alongside the Izvorașul dance ensemble allowed us to honor our roots while connecting with neighbors from around the world. Together, we helped create a space where curiosity thrived, cultures shone, and visitors of all ages gained a deeper appreciation for the heritage that shaped our shared Minnesota home.
