Sunday October 26
1 to 3 pm, Landmark Center Room 317

Guests joined an immersive cultural experience with the renowned Izvorasul Dance Ensemble, a treasured part of the Romanian-American community for over 45 years. Under the leadership of founder and choreographer John Omorean, Izvorasul brought to life more than forty regional dance suites, celebrating the beauty and diversity of Romania’s folk traditions. During the workshop, participants learned the basic steps of regional Romanian dances in a fun, inclusive atmosphere—no experience was required.
In the spirit of Romanian seasonal celebrations, attendees dove into a mask-making workshop inspired by ancient winter and harvest rituals. They blended the spirit of Halloween and Christmas as they designed their own masks modeled after folkloric characters like the Capra (goat), Ursul (bear), and Mosul. They learned about the symbolism, history, and craftsmanship behind these artistic traditions while creating a unique cultural keepsake.
The event was perfect for families, students, and anyone curious about Romanian heritage. Whether they came to dance, craft, or simply enjoy a vibrant afternoon of cultural exchange, they were warmly welcomed.
Together, they celebrated the rhythms, rituals, and rich stories of Romania.
