Romanian Weekends at The Wharf – 4th Edition

This summer, Washington, D.C. welcomed the fourth edition of Romanian Weekends at The Wharf, a joyful celebration of Romania’s living heritage along the waterfront. HORA was proud to be part of this dynamic cultural event, which brought together communities, artists, and traditions in a spirited display of Romanian identity.

🎶 Live Music & Dance Visitors were treated to exhilarating performances that showcased Romania’s diverse musical and dance traditions—from high-energy folk dances to hauntingly beautiful melodies echoing through the open air.

🎨 Traditional Craft Demonstrations Artisans displayed the artistry of Romanian folk crafts, sharing age-old techniques behind icon glass painting, weaving, leader shoe (opinci) making. Guests witnessed creativity in action, connecting with the country’s rich history of handmade design.

🍷 Authentic Cuisine & Wine Tastings The tastes of Romania came alive with sizzling meats, savory vegetarian dishes, and delicious desserts. Pairing perfectly with these bites were curated selections of Romanian wine—each glass telling its own story of terroir and tradition.

🏛️ Heritage Exhibitions Interactive displays and exhibits invited attendees to delve deeper into Romania’s historical legacy, rural customs, and national pride.

From casual passersby to dedicated culture lovers, this immersive weekend sparked curiosity, friendship, and an even greater appreciation for the vibrant spirit of Romanian traditions.
