HORA Presents about Uncovering Bias to the Minnesota Judicial Branch

We shared information about Romania and Moldova’s history, geography, tourism and traditions to over 200 participants of the Minnesota Judicial Branch.. We partnered with the Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut, Dana Bucin and presented information on judicial system differences between the two countries and issues to be considered by American judges when working with Romanian clients.

HORA’s Spring Lecture

A panel of HORA members presented “Romanian Spring Customs”. John Omorean, director of the famous Romanian Folk Dance Ensemble Izvorasul, presented “Romanian Folk Dance in the Balkans”, an interactive traditional folk dance demonstration.

The Inaugural Talk of the HORA Lecture Series

Two presentations were given, “Early Romanian Immigration to the Twin Cities” by Vicki Albu, a genealogist affiliated with the University of Minnesota and the Immigration Research Center, and “Castles of Transylvania” by Raluca Octav, affiliated with the Romanian Institute of Orthodox Theology and Spirituality, New York. The event took place at the Elmer L. Andersen Library, on the University of Minnesota’s West Bank campus.
